"You deserve all of the best things"

Last night, after I sent a dear friend of mine to her residence, I decided to open up. I will not go into details, but they were mainly on worries, purpose and gratitude.

Today, I want to document some of her advice as we exchanged heartfelt sharing.

One: We will not attract what we do not think we deserve. No matter how much I feel like I am undeserving of more blessings because Allah has given me so much, His mercy has no limit. When praying for something, trust that Allah will send it.

"You deserve all of the best things, Farida"

Two: Stop apologising when it is unneeded. I apologise a lot. Even when I know it might make the other party uncomfortable. For example, after I shared my problems and received her advice, I couldn't help but say "sorry that you have to listen to that".

She paused and said "Farida, do not apologise, just say thank you, there's nothing to apologise about"

I believe this point relates to the first point, I apologise a lot because I do not believe that I deserve such kindness and time from people. As if kindness is a transaction, why would I get something that I never paid for? Thankfully that is not how kindness works.

Three: Accept compliments from people. If I am afraid that the compliment will make me arrogant, attribute the compliments back to Allah. Essentially the beauty of this life is the reflection of God's beauty. Say thank you and alhamdulillah.

Four: Work on trusting God. She asked me when I ordered shopee, do I ever question if my parcel will actually even come? Almost never right. We trust that it will be delivered to us. Let alone when we pray to God. He promised that He will give it. Who are we to question it? Rest assured, be trusting. I can only do this when I stop thinking that I am in control of everything around me.

I am not. God is. So let Him.

Ramadhan Mubarak friends:)
